5th November 2009 Wheelhub - Detailed Price Comparison for Cyclists
From: Bob - bob@wheelhub.co.uk

Wheelhub.co.uk is a dedicated site for cyclists to compare prices for bikes and cycle parts.
We thought it was about time cyclists had one of their own instead of having to use sites that also compare washing machines etc.!

We compare mountain bike parts and road bike parts that you might want to buy.
You can already find over 1000 and we're adding new ones.
We've included Ebay and Amazon as well as Cycle shops in the comparisons.

We'll also be having a Free buy and sell section soon.
At the moment its difficult to know where to advertise spare parts / bikes as there are so many forums and clubs.
Hopefully we can make it a central place that works better for everyone.

12th June 2009 PhysioBench - on-line Physiotherapy practice
From: Jane Hodgson - jane.hodgson@physiobench.com

We are an on-line physiotherapy practice (PhysioBench) enabling people to self manage their injury with expert physio guidance.

I feel that Physiobench would fit perfectly with your website. As well as offering personalised rehab programmes we have lots of free advice on site. At the moment articles that would be of interest to your club members include: healing an injury with ice; basic bike set up- 5 tips on how to set up your bike so as to avoid injury; cyclists hand – handlebar palsy; cyclists hand – carpal tunnel syndrome; and 10 good reasons to get on your bike. New articles are added regularly.

We have an extensive team of Chartered Physios all of whom are specialists in their fields. One of our team is Alison Whiteley. Alison has worked as physio with British Cycling including accompanying them to two Olympic Games.

I have already added a link to your site from our cycling injuries page.

With Thanks,
Jane Hodgson

8th Apr 2009 Wonder Wheels - The Autobiography of Eileen Sheridan
From: Richard Shimmell
- www.mercianmanuals.co.uk

Hello,
As a fellow cycling enthusiast/racer and member of the Warwickshire Roads Club, I tried to source a copy of this title as I had heard what a great read it was.
To my astonishment, I realised they were not available anymore, and if you could find a copy on the internet, the prices were extortionate.
Consequently after re-publishing the Beryl Burton book "Personal Best" we (Mercian Manuals Ltd) investigated with Eileen the possibility of re-issuing her book "Wonder Wheels" originally published in 1956.
We are pleased to say that Eileen is happy for us to do this and this title is now available again.
Please find attached the details and price and where to buy from etc here:

19th Feb 2009 Greyhound Inn - Grizebeck
From: pathways.walks@btinternet.com

Hi,
As you may have seen in the local papers, the Greyhound Inn at Grizebeck has been taken over by the local community to prevent its closure.

At the moment it is staffed almost entirely by volunteers, but we are starting to take on staff and offer employment locally. We are already offering a good selection of real ales and will develop the menu as soon as practicable. (At the moment it consists of pub food such as steak and ale pie, Cumberland sausage, gammon etc)

One of our aims is to attract walkers and cyclists. We have started monthly walks from the pub, with coffee and pastries beforehand and bacon baps etc afterwards. We hope soon to be open all day at the weekend and offer good quality tea and coffee and cakes, scones etc. The Broughton cyclists have already been in and arranged a lunch one Sunday after their ride. Black Combe Runners are using it as a base for evening runs.

We would love to see more cyclists using the Greyhound. It is an ideal place for riders from Ulverston and Barrow to meet before setting off up Woodland, the Duddon, Eskdale etc.

The Greyhound is also the finish of the Greyhound Challenge sponsored bike ride (£2000 last year for North West Air Ambulance) from Shap.

We really want to keep the Greyhound open, and your support will help. You can contact me on 01229 889400 or on 07801 350179 if you want to find out more or arrange for a group of you to call for lunch or afternoon tea. I hope we will see some of you here.
